How are sex workers involved in your organisation?

[YACK] is governed by a Multi-level governance structure: The Board of Trustees, The Management and The General Assembly. The Board of Trustees comprise 4 members elected by an Annual General Assembly Meeting. The Board of Trustees [BoT] are Members of LGBTIQ+ sex workers community and its main role is to oversee policy and strategic direction by advising the Management; and it meets 4 times a year comprising the Project Lead Manager as the secretary to the Board of Trustee.

Oppose the criminalisation and other legal oppression of sex work and support its recognition as work
Advocate for universal access to health services, including primary health care, HIV and sexual and reproductive health services
Speak out about violence against sex workers, including violence from police, institutions, clients, and intimate partners, while challenging the myth that sex work is inherently gender-based violence
Oppose human rights abuses, including coercive programming, mandatory testing, raids and forced rehabilitation
Challenge stigma and discrimination against sex workers, their families and partners, and others involved in sex work
Advocate for the economic empowerment and social inclusion of sex workers as sex workers
What are the two main challenges that the sex workers you work with face

[YACK faces a range of most pressing issues, it works in very hostile environments against Transgender women sell sex TGWs and member of LGBTIQ community. As an organizations that promotes (TGW) rights and LGBTIQ+ group. The Organization works in locations that do not yet have significant LGBTIQ+ resources in Kenya. Since homosexuality is still illegal in Kenya, [YACK] has limited access to traditional sources of funding for this programming. In Kenya, of Homa Bay County Transgender TGWs and other members of LGBTIQ sex workers experience a number of barriers to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, ranging from explicit exclusion from national financing to discrimination within SRH services leading to lower access rates]

Describe other areas of your work

The project impacts area is to promote and protect the rights of Transgender women (TGWs) and LGBTIQ+ access social health services. [YACK] also advocates for social justice rights for gender diverse persons and mobilising communities to challenge oppressive laws and policies that discriminate against Transgender women sell sex TGWs, and their sexual partners LGBTIQ+ in Kenya of Homa Bay County.
