Global Consultant: Policy Brief on Sex Workers in Conflict Zones and Humanitarian Crises

NSWP is seeking to appoint a Global Consultant to develop a Policy Brief, with accompanying Community Guide, on meeting the needs and priorities of sex workers in conflict zones and humanitarian crises. NSWP will consider applications from individuals based in or outside of the UK.

Sex workers are disproportionately affected by conflicts and humanitarian crises, including war, natural disasters, epidemics, and other major emergencies. Ongoing structural barriers and inequities, coupled with significant unmet social, economic, and health needs, increase sex workers’ vulnerability to human rights abuses in these settings. Sex workers in conflict zones and humanitarian crises face increased violence, marginalisation, and economic hardship. They also experience reduced access to health services and commodities, yet remain largely excluded from social protection programming and crisis support measures. This policy brief will explore the needs and priorities of sex workers in conflict zones and humanitarian crises, highlighting challenges faced in diverse settings. It will also provide recommendations for promoting inclusive, rights-based services and programming for sex workers in conflict zones and humanitarian crises.
