Friends Frangipani works with all sex workers in PNG. female, male, trandsgenders, and PLHIV sex workers.
We work with other NGO partners to design activities and programs specifically sex workers to address our needs and make services that are appropriate and accessible and free from descrimination.
We also work closely with Gorvernment oganisations to advocate for the Human Rights of sex workers.
All Friends Frangipani Members, Staffs, and Executive representative are past and present sex workers. Friends Frangipani as Sub Committees in eight places and has an elected Executive Committee providing gorvernance and leadership. Our 9 executive Reps hold monthly meetimg to address their local members and discuss the issues affecting them. These issues are then brought back to the Executive Committees attention.
Human Rights:Decriminalisation of sex workers in Papua New Guinea' as the criminalisation of sex work is one of the biggest reason why our Human Rights are not being recogniced. Vulnerabilty to HIV ans AIDS: Condom negotiation and our work place and enviroment is hard, sometimes we get beaten up by clients for try to use condom, when woman are wearing female condom, if the client fines out, the sex worker is sometimes physically abused the client. Condom is use as an evidence.
Friends Frangipani advocates for sex workers rights on a Local, National, and International level. Friends Frangipani now have two regional office in two provinces that will be delivering outreach volunteers to reach out to other sex workers. We provide support and give referrals for Health, Law, HIV services for the sex workers to access services.
