NSWP submitted a written submission for the CEDAW discussion on the General Recommendation on Trafficking in Women and Girls in the Context of Global Migration as part of the 72nd session, 18th February – 8th March 2019.

The submission encourages women’s rights, migrant rights, labour rights and sex workers’ rights movements to work collectively to achieve a strengthening of effective anti-trafficking efforts. It calls on the Committee to distinguish clearly between trafficking, exploitation and sex work, and call for the full decriminalisation of sex work in order to protect the labour rights of sex workers. It also calls for a rights-based approach to trafficking, ensuring safe migration channels and access to justice for victims of trafficking.

You can download the full submission above. It is available in Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
