The African Sex Worker Alliance (ASWA) has developed a sex workers’ murder monitoring tool for mapping murders and other cases of violence against sex workers in Africa.
Announcing the launch of the tool, ASWA said: “There is lack of sufficient, consolidated, verified and analysed data on a single report on violence against sex workers in Africa.”
Updates of the preliminary results will be published on the ASWA website two to three times a year, with a special update on the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers on 17 December 2021. ASWA hopes that this research will assist activists in raising public awareness of hate violence against sex workers in Africa.
This advocacy tool can be accessed on ASWA’s website where they also have information on accessing the Sex Workers’ Murder Monitoring Tool via a dedicated mobile app.
