Maggie de Vries on this TED Talk exposes her own life story in order to expose the stigma and discrimination around sex work.

Maggie remarks on how she had to come to terms with the life that her sister Sarah lived.

Sarah de Vries, who was a sex worker, disappeared on April 1998 when she was 28 years old in Vancouver's rough Downtown Eastside. Since then, Maggie has been listening to sex workers, gathering insights and stories to add dimension to what she learned from her sister, hoping to diminish the stigma that pushes sex workers onto society’s margins.
