Earlier this month, Hull City Council ​won a landmark ruling to create Britain's first "prostitution-free zone." The new orders mean that any sex workers or kerb crawlers caught around the Hessle Road area can be arrested and forced to appear in court.

Sex workers are responding with outrage about a new reality show named "8 Minutes" set to air on the A&E channel. The show follows vice cop-turned-minister, Kevin Brown as he arranges to meet sex workers in hotel rooms and, within eight minutes, tries to “rescue” them from the sex trades.

The Communities Living with HIV, Tuberculosis and affected by Malaria Delegation (Community Delegation) of the Board of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria have published a global report detailing results from a study conducted in 11 countries. The Communities Delegation is a group of forty individuals living with HIV, TB and affected by malaria from every region in the world. They work closely on policy and advocacy at Committee and Board levels and the delegation is committed to being accountable to the constituencies that it represents.

Today is the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers. Every year sex workers groups all over the world organises different activities to memorise the victimised sex workers, and to increase the public concern over sex workers.<--break->

Sex workers around the world will today mark the 12th International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers.  This year we mark this day with a great sense of weariness as countries around the world are moving to adopt the so-called Swedish Model or Nordic Model. This move toward imposing ever more oppressive laws governing sex work is made under the guise of sex workers not being criminalised for selling sex.

In May 2013 Monica Jones, a student, trans- and sex-worker-activist and member of SWOP Phoenix, was arrested by Phoenix police on charges of “manifesting prostitution” as part of a programme called Project ROSE. Jones had spoken out against Project ROSE just days before her arrest.
