العاملون/ات بالجنس التجاري هم/ن من الفئات السكانية الرئيسية الأكثر تضررًا من فيروس نقص المناعة البشرية، بسبب التجريم، وظروف العمل غير المستقرة، والعوائق التي تحول دون الاستخدام المستمر للواقي الذكري، ونقص الوصول إلى الخدمات الصحية، وما إلى اخره.  

يمكن للتشريعات المتعلقة بالعمل بالجنس أن تكون معقدةً للغاية وتتواجد نماذج قانونية مختلفة في البلدان المختلفة، وحتى أحيانًا داخل البلدان نفسها. 

في حين أن فهم القوانين والقواعد المكتوبة أمرٌ مهم، إلا أنه لا يُقدِم صورةً كاملةً لتأثير قوانين العمل بالجنس على حياة العاملين/ات بالجنس. لفهم ذلك، من الضروري فهم كيف يتم تفسير القوانين، فرضها، وتنفيذها على أرض الواقع. 

تشير ’الحماية الاجتماعية‘ إلى الإجراءات المُصَمَّمَة لأجل منع ومعالجة الحالات التي تؤثر سلبا على سلامة الناس، بالإضافة إلى الإجراءات التي تقلل من الضعف وتُسَهِّل الاستقرار الاجتماعي والاقتصادي. كثيرًا ما يتم النظر إلى العاملين/ات بالجنس على أنهم/ن يحتاجون/ن إلى الحماية بسبب الاعتقاد الخاطئ السائد بأن العاملين/ات بالجنس ’ضحايا‘ الاتجار والاستغلال.

The leaflet targets sex workers working in hotels, apartments, brothels, clubs, bars, massage parlours, saunas, sex shops, and other indoor venues. The leaflet is the result of our local experiences. It presents advice and tips related to safety at work, and information on sex work legislation in Bulgaria, France, Germany, Italy and Portugal.
