Who do you work with?

We do outreach with male, female, MSM and GLBT sex workers - street based, home based, escorts and massuse - many do not use lables but indulge in both transactional and commercial sex services. We do outreach towards access to HIV/STI prevention, health and social services - SHR services, advocacy and counter Human trafficking programming. We also do research.

How are sex workers involved in your organisation?

They volunteer as members in general outreach in HIV and STI prevention, work as peer educators, co-facilitate/coordinate and assist in obtaining information towards research and health and advocacy programming.

Which of NSWP priority areas does your organisation work on?
Oppose the criminalisation and other legal oppression of sex work and support its recognition as work
Critique the trafficking paradigm that conflates representations of sex work, migration, and mobility
Advocate for universal access to health services, including primary health care, HIV and sexual and reproductive health services
Oppose human rights abuses, including coercive programming, mandatory testing, raids and forced rehabilitation
Challenge stigma and discrimination against sex workers, their families and partners, and others involved in sex work
What are the two main challenges that the sex workers you work with face

Structural discrimination in funding as there is stigma directed towards sex workers and sex worker programming. We as an NGO/CSO are discriminated when it comes to accessing funding locally as sex work is considered illegal, immoral and illicit. Sex workers are stratified and very little networking is done formally - there is no solidarity and certain groups create networks but it is not in the interest of sex workers it is only used for political and financial gain by the organsiation.
